چکیده
Crystals of the 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenoxyl radical have been isolated and characterized by X-ray diffraction, and calculations have been performed that give the distribution of spin density in the radical.

Mechanistic Insights into the Oxidation of Substituted Phenols via Hydrogen Atom Abstraction by a Cupric–Superoxo Complex
To obtain mechanistic insights into the inherent reactivity patterns for copper(I)-O2 adducts, a new cupric-superoxo complex [(DMM-tmpa)Cu(II)(O2(•-))](+) (2) [DMM-tmpa = tris((4-methoxy-3,5-dimethylpyridin-2-yl)methyl)amine] has been synthesized and studied in phenol oxidation-oxygenation reactions. Compound 2 is characterized by UV-vis, resonance Raman, and EPR spectroscopies. Its reactions w...
متن کاملPhenoxy radical detection using P NMR spin trapping
ion and subsequent deprotonation gives rise to phenoxy radicals, which play a pivotal role in lignin chemistry. Overall spin trapping systems could be powerful tools to understand the radical intermediates involved in lignin chemistry. In Table 4 our data on spin trap experiments with DIPPMPO and different phenols are shown. There are different oxidation systems for the generation of phenoxy ra...
متن کاملReduction of an Fe(I) mesityl complex induced by π-acid ligands.
Treatment of the Fe(I) mesityl complex [Fe(Mes)(BPEP-Ph)] (BPEP-Ph = 2,6-bis[1-phenyl-2-(2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenyl)-2-phosphaethenyl]pyridine) with π-acid ligands (L = CO, RNC) leads to one-electron reduction via Mes group migration from Fe to P, followed by homolytic elimination of the 2,4,6-tBu3C6H2 group, to afford Fe(0) complexes of the formula [Fe(L)2(BPEP-Ph*)] (BPEP-Ph* = 2-[1-phenyl-2-...
متن کاملPredicting organic hydrogen atom transfer rate constants using the Marcus cross relation.
Chemical reactions that involve net hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) are ubiquitous in chemistry and biology, from the action of antioxidants to industrial and metalloenzyme catalysis. This report develops and validates a procedure to predict rate constants for HAT reactions of oxyl radicals (RO(*)) in various media. Our procedure uses the Marcus cross relation (CR) and includes adjustments for sol...
متن کاملThe complexed triphosphaallyl radical, cation, and anion family.
Radically complex: The photolytic reaction of [Cp*P{W(CO)(5)}(2)] (Cp* = C(5)Me(5)) with a diphosphene produces, via a radical intermediate, an air-stable complexed triphosphaallyl radical, in which the unpaired electron is evenly distributed over both terminal P atoms. Oxidation of the radical leads to a triphosphaallyl cation, which is only stable at low temperatures in solution, whereas the ...
